Bentonite is a fine-particle clay commonly used in ceramics to enhance plasticity, boost green strength, and serve as a suspending agent in glazes. Due to its extremely small particle size and large surface area, it is effective in very small quantities. However, using too much bentonite can increase shrinkage, slow down drying, and potentially cause cracking.
